The residents and staff of Hibiscus Buderim Meadows had every reason to party when the village celebrated its 30th anniversary with an elevated morning tea. The event was held at the village’s community centre and the fantastic turnout of 200 people was a confirmation of how proud and excited the residents were of this milestone. The theme was green and the residents embraced the colour, showing up in their best shades of green attire, representing the colour of the village.

The morning kicked off with local musicians playing lively music, prompting a few residents to get up and dance. The highlight of the event was a video presentation capturing 30 years of fun, activities and friendships. The video featured resident speeches and photos from over the years, which brought back fond memories and feelings of nostalgia for many of the residents. To commemorate the occasion, everyone received an engraved keyring as a keepsake.

Gloria, a resident who has lived in the village for 30 years recalls her time in the village. “After moving here, I learned how to do Tai Chi and started doing crafts which I never did before. There are plenty of activities here to keep yourself busy with. The thing I enjoy the most here is feeling safe walking all over the village.” Long-time residents Jan and Graham were very happy with the anniversary celebration. "It was such a good day, it was the best function we have ever been to at the village. The food was excellent, it was so well run and we really enjoyed catching up with people."

Considering all the positive feedback the staff received about the day from the residents, the fun was far from over. The village team planned an afternoon after the event where residents gathered to rewatch the photos and videos taken during the celebration on the big screen, reliving the special moments of the day.
